Summer Camp

I never got to go to camp as a child. For the last 23 years I have made up for that by attending camp with either teen-agers or children! It has been some of the best times of my life! This week was no different! The children were so good and well-behaved in spite of the near record heat . Remember these kids have all grown up with air-conditioned-everything and then to go to camp and sleep without AC is truly "roughing it"! Or at least it was for me!
I do pretty well in the heat but when you climb in that little ( and I mean "narrow") bunk everynight and the sweat is in a puddle around you, that's hot! They had over 1100 children there this week. The camp pastor is just wonderful and always brings a word of truth from the Bible to the kids.

The morning is for Bible study and the afternoon is for recreation! (This is where you really get in on the full-sweat action!)

The evening is spent in the worship center(which is fully airconditioned.....PTL!) I had the honor of speaking to several children who came forward to accept the Lord as Savior. How it humbles me to see a child come forward with tears in his eyes knowing that he needs Jesus. It NEVER gets old; it NEVER ceases to put joy in my heart to be able to play a small part in leading people to see their need of the Lord in their life. Camp is hot, loud, dirty but God always shows up!!!!

Oh my goodness! I just had "flashbacks" of sleeping in those little narrow bunkbeds at camp with NO AC! That is a huge camp - 1100 kids! How wonderful that you got to share the Lord with those children! What an honor!

Was that at Siloam Springs? My brother was there that same week with the kids. He just LOVES it. He has gone the last few years. The Siloam Springs director was my youth pastor growing up so he always asks my brother to help out. He is a children's minister at a church here in Central Arkansas. So fun! I have so many memories of Siloam Springs growing up! I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to attend.
